Several car companies have popped up through the years that claim to change the car buying process. At first glance, it seems like their intentions are good. If you ever were to deal with them, they don’t really mess around pencil whipping you but instead give you their “pretty good deal” right off the bat. They don’t quite give you enough for your trade and they certainly don’t discount their vehicle much, but claim that you’re getting a great deal because they’re a one price store. “ Hey you don’t have to worry about haggling with us because we already give you a great deal right off the bat.”
Texas Car Concierge just had its 5th birthday and we are so very proud to have helped all the people that we’ve helped through the years. One thing is that with all the deals that we’ve made for people, none of them have been with those one price stores. Yes, every time we have dealt with the one price store and they have given us their absolute best deal, we have found a different dealership to give a better deal on a nicer unit.
The biggest reason we have been able to do this is because we shop at so many different dealerships for our clients. For our last used car client, We found cars as far away as North Carolina for our client to shop. We have found used Wranglers in Seattle Washington that work for some of our clients. A 3/4 ton diesel ram truck out of Mesa Arizona for example. Of course, we apply the same principles when finding new vehicles for our clients. A Lexus out of Indiana, a Yukon out of Amarillo, and even a BMW from Pennsylvania.
Those one price stores and no haggle stores really believe they’re giving you a good deal because they can see what the cost of their vehicle is. If they’re only making $1,500 on the sale of a car, then surely the customer is getting a good deal. Of course, If they own the car for $2,000 too much money, then you’re not getting a good deal as a customer. Sure they didn’t run back and forth 10 times, but you still overpaid for a vehicle. I want to stress, their lack of a profit does not mean you are getting a good deal. It really means they own their car for too much money. In order to make up for that profit they then give you a little bit less of your trade and since they are a no haggle store you just kind of have to accept it. The thing that makes it tolerable is that they are really really nice to you throughout the process. Of course they’re nice to you because they’re about to make $3,000 off of you.
In case you don’t believe me, just ask them for help buying a car from another dealership. Of course they’re not going to help you. They are only helpful and really nice if you are buying a car from them. The minute it appears that you are not buying a car from them, the pressure ramps up. All the old sales tactics kick in real quick, and we realize this car dealership may have different stripes but it’s the same animal. They are only obligated to be nice to you if you’re buying their option (vehicle).
Texas Car Concierge, does not have any loyalty to any one dealership. We certainly have dealerships we enjoy working with more than others, but that doesn’t influence our decisions and our negotiating on behalf of our clients. We genuinely want our clients to be happy not just with the vehicle they purchased but with the entire vehicle purchasing experience.
